  • Ripped from the Headlines Using the tools of journalism to inform the poetic process, students will learn hope to step outside of themselves to tackle current events.
  • Through the Looking Glass
    Employing elements of magical realism in poetry, students will explore the boundaries between metaphor and fact.
• Performance Workshops
  • From Page to Stage - Basics
    Students will learn basic mic technique, tips for overcoming nerves and reading with confidence, and how to approach any poem with an eye towards its performance.
  • From Page to Stage - Intermediate
    You've read a few times, see a poetry slam or two, but you can't seem to muster the kind of performance that you feel your poems deserve. In this workshop students will learn how to take their performance to the next level of emotional honesty and intensity.
  • Women's Performance Workshop
    Students will learn how to give commanding performance of their work in a space that if free of judgments. Students will also engage in frank discussions of the particular challenges and strengths women encounter in performance and competition.

Workshops can be completed in as little at 45 minutes or can be designed with a full week's worth of material, depending upon programing needs. Groups of students no bigger than 30 people are preferred.
